Our expert panelists explored “The Future of Electronic Evidence and Litigation Technology in a Post-Pandemic World” at Nextpoint’s annual user conference, On Point 2021. Noted legal tech journalist Bob Ambrogi led the discussion with Rob Feigenbaum of Prevail Legal, Tim Oates of Synaptiq, Tom O’Connor of Gulf Coast Legal Technology Center and Daliah Saper of Saper Law.
From new forms of electronic evidence and evolving workflows to remote work and online dispute resolution, the COVID-19 pandemic brought about many changes and innovations in the legal profession.
However, many attorneys don’t or can’t make time to research and learn about new technologies, even when they’re faced with a discovery challenge. Some are still uncomfortable addressing and responding to ediscovery demands.
Tom O’Connor noted that attorneys need to understand current technology in order to be effective legal practitioners today. Rob Feigenbaum added that “lawyers and legal professionals should be as willing to use technology in their professional lives as they are in their personal lives.”
Daliah Saper advised lawyers “to know what they don’t know,” noting that it’s important to have professionals you can call on to help guide you through the ever-changing landscape of legal tech.
Moderator Bob Ambrogi emphasized that this landscape is currently changing more than ever before. “I’ve been tracking the development of legal technology for 20 years now,” he said. “At first it was a trickle, then it started to pick up in velocity, and now we’re being flooded with new technology.”
