Nextpoint’s Privilege Protect ® helps solve one of the thorniest problem in litigation – securely transferring electronic data to opposing parties while preventing the production of privileged communications.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 09, 2012
Nextpoint, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of cloud-based regulatory, compliance, and litigation software, announces the release of Privilege Protect™ eDiscovery technology. With Privilege Protect, Nextpoint now delivers cloud-based algorithms to identify and isolate documents that have been marked as privileged or confidential and remove them prior to production to opposing parties.
Privilege Protect is the first automated eDiscovery technology designed to protect confidential and privileged communication, the most important aspect of the attorney-client relationship. Deploying multiple levels of cloud-based technologies – including MD5 hash, near-duplication, email threading, and electronic file transfer – Privilege Protect acts as a final check prior to production, acutely and systematically comparing all privileged data against data to be produced. All privileged, unredacted, or confidential documents that may have slipped past the reviewers’ notice can then be removed from the production set.
Courts have consistently found that when legal teams inadvertently export privileged documents to opposing parties, those documents are no longer privileged. Privilege Protect resolves this problem by transferring data electronically in the cloud, simplifying the export process and virtually eliminating the opportunity for human error.
“Judges have made it abundantly clear that it is an attorney’s duty to make all reasonable efforts to ensure that privileged communications are not produced,” said Rakesh Madhava, CEO of Nextpoint. “Privilege Protect is an eDiscovery technology that applies machine learning and automated processes to eliminating the potential for human error, demonstrating a reasonable effort to protect privilege.”
Nextpoint clients can transfer a document collection to opposing counsel, judges, or other parties; providing receiving parties with secure access to a separate and secure “clone” database of digital data. “Privilege Protect fills the same role in the legal industry that electronic fund transfers fill in the financial industry; a frictionless, automated standard by which to transfer material of significant value,” said Nextpoint CEO, Rakesh Madhava.
Privilege Protect is the latest innovation in the Nextpoint eDiscovery technology platform.
